Our Story

The ohbases story began with a fascination of natural means and a guiding philosophy that "less is More". Daily natural use, our founder began a journey to create a collection of practical everyday use products.

In 2003 Becky was living in Orange County, California and began by mixing her own fragranced essential oils seeking the kind of scents that not only excite the palate, but delight in an understated tone. She loves the kind of scent that lingers without overpowering and losing its welcome - one that heals with its clean natural essence. That lead to a beautiful line of natural moisturizing perfumes.

As Becky was finding inspiration on the West Coast, fate intervened and whisked her away to the big state of Texas. With the big Texas sky came big mosquitoes and larger than life changes in the air. That lead her in the direction of seeking a moisturizing lip balm to protect her and her family's lips that wouldn't damage the skin and could be worn daily in a natural way.

Success wasn't certain or fast. There were many late nights of experiments along the way. But eventually she developed a moisturizing lip balm formula that met her standards - one that she would use on a daily basis. Created with a subtle blend of natural ingredients it was beautiful in its simplicity. But she knew it was all that hard work that made it so. She knew that simple is not the same as easy. Simple is the removal of everything except that which matters.

With the success of her moisturizing fragrances and lip balm, OhBases the brand was born in 2008 along with the parent company Better Matters, Inc. Her inspiration for the parent company's name was also simple - with life short and time being our most precious asset, she thought that one should always attend to the most important matters in first priority - better matters. And with her family joining her what better to attend to than a project of love assisted by those she loves most.

From the beginning, they had a grassroots vision. They believed that if they invested in the quality of their products and the experience, rather than marketing, people who fell in love with OhBases would spread the word. They were right. They quickly developed a devout following for their fresh approach to balms and scents making skincare a lovely, gentle respite as opposed to an invasive treatment or chore. Becky's philosophy: Create products that are a pleasure to use: with light but purposeful textures, purposeful levels of plant extracts, and scented only by natural fragrance and essential oils.

Today, OhBases is a breath of fresh air in a world of trendy products designed to show off themselves rather than the wearer. Every item is created with tons of love, carefulness, thoughtfulness and scrupulous choice of ingredients. We hear what our family and friends want. We create it. We meet their needs. We use it ourselves and share with our neighbors and friends.
